Answer: No, the spindle would not reach through to turn the knob. Currently, we do not have a model like this that will fit that deep of a door. -

Answer: When you slide the knob up under the handle on the inside of the door it locks the handle so it cannot be turned to open. -

Does the handle suppose to return to the close position? It won't close automatically like all other handles on screen doors. The door closes.
Answer: I am not quite sure of your question, so I'll say that the Prime-Line product, K 5000 Tulip, does an excellent job of letting the door close, and then returning to its closed-position.
