With an incredible AF and a real electric shutter, the a9 allows for silent capturing of shots. While the photo result of the a7riii may be better, the a9 is still an exceptional choice. If you're not sure if you need the a9, it may be better to go for the a7riii. Unfortunately, there is no news regarding the firmware update to enable s-log 1 or 2 on the a9, so if you're interested in that, you'll have to wait for an announcement from Sony. Additionally, the free grip costs an extra $350, but there are alternative options available such as the Meike grip which has plastic parts and holds two standard A9 batteries. The a9 is a US model, with an optical sensor resolution of approximately 24.2-megapixel.
