SKIL SKIL Saws Editorial Review
The Skil MAG77LT, 7 1/4” worm drive circular saw is a powerful and lightweight tool that delivers both power and stability. Despite being 4 lbs lighter than previous versions, the saw felt comfortable and balanced during use. It provided stability and smoothness, making it easy to cut straight lines. The motor, rated at 15 amps, had plenty of power for long rips. Although the factory blade had some issues with overheating and binding, the motor performed well throughout the cutting process. The saw also had serviceable oil, brushes, and bearings, which contribute to its extended tool life. The “Vari-Torque Clutch” feature provided a kickback clutch that allowed the shaft to turn while the blade remained motionless, preventing the saw from binding. The 53-degree bevel was a plus, as it offered greater flexibility than comparable models. The saw also had a two-position hook, which provided convenience and peace of mind when hanging the saw. The only improvements suggested were the storage location of the blade wrench and the depth bracket gauge. The saw exceeded expectations and proved to be a formidable opponent in the worm drive market.
