- Leviton is a gfci receptacle finished in White, a US residential electrical device manufactured by Leviton — the largest privately-held US electrical-device manufacturer (founded 1906, headquartered in Melville, New York). This GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) receptacle continuously monitors current flow between hot and neutral conductors; when an imbalance of 4–6 milliamps is detected (the threshold indicating a fault path through a person or to ground), the device trips within approximately 25 milliseconds. GFCI receptacles are mandated by the National Electrical Code (NEC) for installation in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, basements, outdoor locations, and any other wet or damp residential location — see NEC Article 210.8 for the full code-required install list. The device is UL Listed — independently safety-tested to applicable US electrical-equipment standards — and is covered by the Leviton manufacturer's warranty terms as published on the product label.
